Racing For Awareness

Group3

The 29th annual Goodwill Wheel-a-Thon event took place on Saturday, May 18 at Tri- Rivers Career Center in Marion.

Nine teams, some with members who never sat in a wheelchair before, raced to see who would be first to complete three lengths of a course about 60 feet long.

Third place winners were from the team: Marion Kiwanis sponsored by Marion Noon Kiwanis. Second place winners were from the team: Team Clarity sponsored by Clarity Technology Solutions and the first place winners (once again) were from the team:
Jordan’s Hotwheels sponsored by Dr. Bipin Desai.

The efforts of Goodwill, local volunteers and sponsors helped to raise over $23,000.00. Funds were raised through sponsorships, racing, auction items, 50/50, Round Up at the Goodwill retail stores and a spaghetti dinner provided by the Warehouse. Proceeds benefit Goodwill programs and services that improve lives and empower the communities we serve.

Happy Goodwill Industries Week

tw-cover

May 5-11

It’s Goodwill Industries week, and we’re celebrating everyone who makes the Goodwill mission possible. We couldn’t do it without the support of our shoppers, donors and community partners. Thank you for making a difference.

This Goodwill Industries Week, we’re celebrating the people who use our services and are taking charge of their lives to gain the skills to earn meaningful employment. People such as Cheyenne.

Cheyenne is a participant in our Marion Youth Program, a collaboration with Marion County Job & Family Services. She has been enrolled in the program since February 2018 and has been working at the Marion City Hall / Marion Police Department. Cheyenne has made huge strides towards her goals. She has been working full time hours, caring for her children (including a baby born in the last year) and recently obtained her high school diploma. Cheyenne’s work site has been instrumental in her success by allowing her time during the workday to do her homework and even helping her with her studies if needed.

This Goodwill Industries Week, we are celebrating everyone who makes a difference at Goodwill. Our employer partners like Marion City Hall/Marion Police Department are vital to our success.
