Random Acts of Kindness Week Feb. 14-20, 2016

Experience the joy that comes from doing good things for others! To help you get things started here are a few ideas:

Say Something Nice to Someone

In our daily lives, it’s easy to let negativity bring us down. But you can help create a positive environment for yourself and those around you by going out of your way to say nice things to others. Thinking of something nice to say to others isn’t always easy, but if you make it a habit, you’ll become a more positive, happier person.

Bring a Treat to Your Neighbor or Your Co Workers

Bring a treat to work, to school, or to your neighbor today! Surprise your coworkers with a homemade treat, coffee, donuts, fresh fruit, or cookies. Bringing a small treat like homemade bread or cookies for your coworkers, classmates, and neighbors will really make them feel valued and appreciated. If you’ve got the time to bake, great! If not, make a quick stop on your way to work or school and pick up some goodies, or invite your neighbor over for coffee!

Encourage Someone

Encourage someone who needs it. Whether it’s a friend, sibling, parent, child or coworker, a little recognition could make a world of difference in their lives. Let them know that you are thankful for them and that you appreciate having them in your life. You can encourage someone with words, a hug, a gift or even an email or phone call. It is so simple to do; act now and go encourage someone!

Clean Out Your Closets

As seasons change and styles change many of us have items in our closet that no longer fit our body or our wardrobe!  Make an effort to find unused items in your closets and drawers and donate them to a local shelter or charity organization such as Goodwill.

Visit Someone Who Is Lonely

People can become lonely for any number of reasons, regardless of their age. Some people are alone because they don’t feel like they fit in, while others may become lonely after the death of a close friend or relative. Other people might just suffer from an illness that doesn’t allow them to see many people. Children with family troubles will often become lonely as a result of the tough issues they face at home. Offer your companionship to someone who is lonely in exchange for their wisdom or a lifetime of stories.

Leave Quarters at Laundromat

The next time you do your laundry at the Laundromat, leave a couple of quarters behind for the next person. You could even leave them on top of the machine with a note saying “Have a great day!”

Give Care Packs to the Homeless

There are so many everyday accessories and toiletries we take for granted – toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant.

Imagine how you would feel if you didn’t have access to these small things. Well, many people in your community can’t afford these things. By donating even the smallest items to those who don’t have them, you’ll be providing someone with a greater sense of self-worth. Simple accessories you may take for granted could be greatly appreciated by those who are less fortunate. Maybe your support will open a door that will give that person a change to get a job or give them a fresh start to a new life.
